Core Return Program

What is a Core?

A "core" is your old engine or transmission that has been removed from your vehicle. When you purchase a remanufactured engine or transmission from US Engine Production, we require the return of your old unit (the core) so it can be remanufactured for future customers.

How the Core Return Program Works

Purchase Your Engine

When you buy a remanufactured engine or transmission, a core charge is included in your order. This is a refundable deposit.

Install Your New Engine

Have your new remanufactured engine installed by a qualified mechanic. Keep your old engine/transmission ready for return.

Return Your Core

Contact us to arrange core pickup. We provide free freight pickup for most locations within the continental United States.

Receive Your Refund

Once we receive and inspect your core, your core charge deposit will be refunded to your original payment method within 5-7 business days.

Core Return Requirements

To receive a full core charge refund, your returned core must meet the following conditions:

Core must be the same type and model as the unit purchased
Core must be complete — no missing major components (block, heads, crankshaft, etc.)
Core must not have a cracked or severely damaged block
Core must not have been previously disassembled or have missing internal parts
Core must be returned within 30 days of receiving your remanufactured unit
Core must be properly drained of all fluids before shipping
Core must be securely packaged on a pallet or in the crate provided

Core Charge Amounts

Core charges vary depending on the engine or transmission model. Typical core charges range from:

Automatic Transmissions	$200 - $600
Manual Transmissions	$150 - $400

Free Core Pickup

We arrange free freight pickup for core returns within the continental United States. Simply call us when your core is ready, and we'll schedule a carrier to pick it up from your location — whether it's a shop, residence, or business.

Important: Please have the core on a pallet, drained of fluids, and accessible for the freight carrier.

What Happens If I Don't Return My Core?

If the core is not returned within 30 days, the core charge becomes non-refundable. We understand that sometimes situations arise — if you need an extension, please contact us and we'll work with you on a case-by-case basis.
